Director of Funding, Catalyst
Alan Watts is the Director of Funding at Catalyst which is a not-for-profit working to transform the Northern Ireland tech economy. His role is to match high potential NI companies with a network of external funders. In 2019 42% of all NI tech equity investment was from outside NI.
Alan is a board member of the UKBAA.
Previous Alan ran Halo, the NI angel network whose members invested £12m in NI companies, £28m including leveraged funding.
He is an exited technical entrepreneur having co-founded Yelo Ltd which was successfully acquired by a Canadian PLC.
Alan completed two terms as an elected Vice President and Trustee of the Institution of Engineering and Technology – the largest professional engineering organisation in Europe.
In his spare time Alan is a keen windsurfer in which capacity he continues his mission to break every bone in his body.
